Subject: [humanrightsireland] Article 13 of the European Convention on Human Rights

"It is our duty to ensure that these rights are a living reality -- that they are known, understood and enjoyed by everyone, everywhere. It is often those who most need their human rights protected, who also need to be informed that the Declaration exists -- and that it exists for them." (United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon)

"A society that has lost its way ..." (Republic of Ireland)

Monday December 31, 2007 12:06 by W. Finnerty.

Human Rights Day 2007 (December 10th 2007) marked the start of a year-long commemoration of the 60th anniversary of the United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

"The Declaration belongs to each and every one of us – read it, learn it, promote it and claim it as your own."

The above excerpts have been taken from the following United Nations location: http://www.un.org/events/humanrights/2007/ .

A new web site, named "Human Rights (Ireland)", which hopefully will grow in size during this anniversary year, has been opened recently to celebrate and to participate in the year-long commemoration of the 60th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

The address of this new web site is: www.humanrightsireland.com

EPILOGUE:

Earlier today RTE (State Broadcaster) reported that "the Archbishop of Dublin (Dr John Neill) has warned that the nation is being sucked into a society that has lost its way." (For the full text of Dr Neill's statement please see http://www.rte.ie/news/2007/1231/newyear.html .)

Could it be I wonder, that some careful consideration of basic human rights principles, and basic human rights law, might help our nation find its way back out of the mess (as some see it)?

It might be worth a try - and what have we (as a nation) got to lose by such efforts?

=====================

Please note I have STILL not received ANY reply from Chief Justice Murray (or from ANY of his senior lawyer colleagues) to the letter I sent to him through the registered post on August 28th 2007. This ongoing failure to provide me with a reply is: 1) a source of growing mental TORTURE for me, 2) aggravates and adds to the C-PTSD medical condition I suffer from, and 3) provides yet more VERY WORRYING evidence (from my viewpoint) of rampant and completely out-of-control corruption at the very TOP of the Republic of Ireland's legal profession: and which now appears  IMPOSSIBLE TO DEAL WITH BY ANY REASONABLE MEANS . A copy of the letter in question to Chief Justice Murray can be viewed at the following address: http://www.europeancourtofhumanrightswilliamfinnerty.com/ChiefJusticeMurray/28August2007/Letter.htm
